Just stating the obvious here maar... Jullie weten dat vluchtige aromaten over het algemeen kankerverwekkend zijn? vooral benzeen?

Dûh. Mijn werk is kankerdiagnostiek, maar de stoffen die je bij de kleuringen gebruikt zijn behoorlijk carcinogeen.

Just stating the obvious here maar... Jullie weten dat vluchtige aromaten over het algemeen kankerverwekkend zijn? vooral benzeen? *gniffel* Uiteraard. Die gele overall is dampdicht, en voordat ik een saneringsput in stap met een (mogelijke) benzeenverontreiniging zorg ik altijd dat ik een gasmasker bij me (of op) heb, en een PID-meter. Die meet niet stofspecifiek maar geeft alleen een gecombineerde waarde voor vluchtige koolwaterstoffen, maar om risico's te beperken gaan we bij bodemsaneringen in geval van aromaten bijna altijd uit van het hoogste veiligheidsregime (3T/2F, waarbij 3T de hoogste toxiciteitsklasse is en 2F de hoogste brandbaarheidsklasse) tenzij in het bodemonderzoek voorafgaand is aangetoond dat er geen benzeen aanwezig is en de andere aromaten niet in gevaarlijk hoge gehalten in grond of grondwater aanwezig zijn. Maar zeker als je echt fysiek een ontgravingsput in stapt (en dat moet ik nog wel eens, om controlemonsters te nemen) waar vluchtige aromaten vrij kunnen komen wil je goed beschermd zijn. Zo'n put wordt al gauw een besloten en windstille ruimte, waar de damp lekker in blijft hangen. Dus ja, ik ben mij bewust van de risico's en neem mijn voorzorgsmaatregelen. En ja, ik krijg wel eens commentaar op die sik maar mijn gasmasker sluit goed af

Op het lab zit alles op een afzuigsysteem in combinatie met actieve koolfilters. Nitriele handschoenen+labjas aan+bril op maar alsnog kun je het niet helemaal voorkomen dat je soms in contact komt met xyleen. Kleuring moet ook regelmatig verschoond worden, dat is het grootste gevaar. Ook geven de machines wel een storing, tsja... Gewoon zo voorzichtig mogelijk werken.

Mooizo, in dat geval weten jullie vast ook dat het gevaar van aromaten vaak zeer erg overdreven wordt? Benzeen waste men vroeger de handen mee, en daarvan heeft wel ns iemand wat kanker gekregen ja, maar kom op. Ze wasten hun handen ermee. Ik gooi regelmatig tolueen over mn handen heen en maak me nergens druk om. Xyleen is nog minder schadelijk

Ja. Maar ik heb me aan regels te houden (de CROW132, de grenswaarde) en de arbeidsinspectie en milieuhandhaving komen wel eens onaangekondigd kijken
